Super long waiting... well, I finally feel like typing a chapter, so yeah. - Darknesspaw prowled through ThunderClan territory, hunting for prey. A moon had passed since the training battle he and Blackpaw had had with their mentors, and since Darknesspaw and Blackpaw were both already older than some warriors in ThunderClan, they were having their assessment today. The two apprentices had to catch as much prey as possible before moonrise.
Easy, thought Darknesspaw, while stalking through ThunderClan territory, all senses alert for prey. Like I haven't hunted before, he rolled his eyes, and continued walking, but after walking a tail length ahead, he stopped, his ears pricked.
He heard a rustle of leaves, and saw a squirrel running just tail lengths ahead of him. Darknesspaw didn't hesitate, and he pounced, killing the squirrel swiftly with a bite to the neck. Darknesspaw picked up the limp body of the pale brown, and white striped squirrel in his jaws, and dug a very small hole with his paws quickly. He dropped the squirrel into the small hole, and covered it back up again.
Darknesspaw did this instead of just scraping a bit of earth onto his catch; that way he was sure no cat but himself could find the prey afterwards.
He bounded ahead, silently, once more, still alert for prey. He heard a bird chirp from above him, and glanced up. The bird was about to land, it might have spotted food or something. Darknesspaw didn't care, he just leaped at the bird, and gave it a quick swipe with his paw, killing it instantly. He did the same with it as he had done to the squirrel, and padded off towards a place with a few small trees that he normally found mice at.
"Darkness!"
Darknesspaw almost jumped, startled by the low hiss of his former rogue name. His whiskers twitched in both curiosity and anger, and he slowly turned, and was facing a white cat with a black chest and paws. "Coal," muttered Darknesspaw, not knowing if Frostywind, Flamestripe or Dawnfur were watching him right now, viewing him speak to a former friend of his . . .
Coal dipped his head respectfully. "When I returned to the cave from a long hunting trip - I got a little lost on the way - I saw that all the DarknessClan cats had scattered. Now I see you here, and I'm wondering what has happened?"
Darknesspaw could barely stop himself from his fur bristling in anger. He did not want to be caught, talking like a traitor, to one of the best warriors of the lost DarknessClan.
Darknesspaw gave a curt nod, and mewed faintly, "DarknessClan has scattered. Leave now."
Coal looked confused. "Why would I leave?" he asked. "I can still stay here with you, can't I? If DarknessClan has scattered . . why did they scatter, exactly?"
Darknesspaw shook his head. "I don't know," he lied, uncertain if he sounded truthful or not.
"Oh . . ." Coal murmured. "Well, can I stay here, with you? Wait, isn't this ThunderClan territory? You're risking to get caught on this stupid Clan's territory?"
Darknesspaw growled, his tail lashing. "Yes, I'm risking it, and just so you know, I'm -" Darknesspaw quickly stopped talking, he was about to give away that he was the traitor to DarknessClan, the one who left with Blackwhisker, now Blackpaw, to join ThunderClan.
"Oh . . . well, I'd rather not risk it, sorry, Darkness, but I think I'm going to go find Cinder . . ." Coal mewed quietly, not meeting Darknesspaw's gaze. "Go, then, I'm busy hunting, you know!" Darknesspaw snapped, not caring if Coal left.
Coal just nodded, and quickly ran off, probably in fear that Darknesspaw would attack him.
Darknesspaw just hissed, angry that he had wasted time of his assessment. He continued the hunt now, pushing the thoughts of his former Clanmates out of his mind.
Darknesspaw glanced up at the sky. Nearly moonrise; the assessment was over. Darknesspaw bounded around the forest, collecting his prey to bring back for his new Clan.
Darknesspaw soon reached camp again. Dawnfur and Flamestripe were waiting for him, he saw Flamestripe look above Darknesspaw's head, and Darknesspaw glanced over his shoulder to see Blackpaw emerging from the ThunderClan entrance.
Darknesspaw dropped all the prey he had caught in the fresh kill pile, and bounded over to his mentor. Frostywind wasn't with them.
"How did I do?" asked Darknesspaw, knowing he did well anyway. "Great," Dawnfur replied, her eyes fixed on the nursery for some reason, but Flamestripe was staring at the leaders den. "Ravenstar will be holding your warrior ceremony soon," he murmured.
Darknesspaw sat there, waiting for Ravenstar to come out of her den. And finally, after what seemed like waiting moons, the black figure of the ThunderClan leader, Ravenstar, emerged from her den.
Darknesspaw let out a sigh of relief. He and Blackpaw bounded over to Ravenstar, who nodded to them. The two apprentices followed Ravenstar to the Highstone.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, join here beneath the Highstone for a Clan meeting."
Darknesspaw just glared down at him, ignoring the faces of cats below him, but waiting for Ravenstar to start the ceremony.
"I, Ravenstar, leader of ThunderClan, ask StarClan to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard in the ways of your noble code, and I commend to you a warrior in your turn. Darknesspaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" asked Ravenstar.
Darknesspaw nodded, "I do,"
"Then from this moment, you will be known as Darkfeather. StarClan honors your strength, bravery and your courage."
Darkfeather padded up to Ravenstar, and she rested her head on his, Darkfeather licked her shoulder, and when Ravenstar turned her gaze to Blackpaw, he leaped down, and padded towards the warriors.
"Blackpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?" asked Ravenstar."
"I do." Blackpaw mewed solemnly.
"Then from this moment, you will again be known as Blackwhisker. StarClan honors your strength and your nobility, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan."
Ravenstar, this time, rested her head on Blackwhisker's, and Blackwhisker licked her shoulder in respect before bounding down to sit beside Darkfeather.
"Darkfeather! Blackwhisker! Darkfeather! Blackwhisker!" the cats of ThunderClan gave a roar of applause for the two new warriors.
Darkfeather nodded his gratitude, while Blackwhisker just sat there, staring ahead of him, looking as if he regretted joining ThunderClan.
There was a yowl of pain coming from the nursery.
Murmurs of shock rose from all the cats, stopping them from congratulating the two new appointed warriors.
By the time Darkfeather turned his head to the nursery, the medicine cat had entered the nursery, carrying herbs.
Darkfeather wondered what was going on. But then, if it was happening in the nursery, it was either a queen in pain, or a kit, or a queen giving birth . . .
Frostywind!
The thought came to him quickly, Frostywind wasn't with them at their training assessment or after that. She was in the nursery the whole day, and it must be her giving birth to kits.
Darkfeather's fur bristled, wondering what was happening inside the nursery, but Ravenstar had already blocked any cat from entering.
Darkfeather waited, sitting there, for what seemed like moons, until, finally, Ravenstar nodded to ThunderClan, and more murmurs broke out from the warriors, apprentices, and elders.
He immediately padded towards the nursery, and Ravenstar let him enter. He saw Frostywind there, and three kits were suckling.
Frostywind looked up at him. "Hi, Darknesspaw - or are you Darkshadow now? Sorry, I wasn't exactly listening . . ."
Darkfeather just nodded. "I'm Darkfeather now," he corrected her, then dropped his gaze to the three kits. "Have you named them yet?" he asked automatically.
"No, not yet, I think I'll rest a bit first," Frostywind murmured, and yawned widely. Darkfeather dipped his head, but continued to stare at the kits.
"Darkfeather!" a voice from outside the nursery called. "Border patrol!"
"I have to go," Darkfeather mewed. "Bye," he mewed quickly before padding out of the nursery. He stalked over to Duskshadow and Blackwhisker, who he was going to be going on patrol with.
"Are all the kits healthy?" asked Duskshadow. "Yes, they're fine . . ." Darkfeather murmured, apparently lost in thought. Duskshadow just nodded, and the patrol advanced towards the ShadowClan border.- Done that Chapter . . . the next chapter features . . . uh . . . Dawnfur. XD[/font]

Thanks! XD BTW, Hushpad, do you want your kit to be Tearkit now instead of Hushkit? CX
-
Dawnfur padded into the nursery to check her sister and her sisters kits. A moon passed since the birth of the three kits. One of them was golden, with white forepaws, icy blue eyes and jet black stripes, almost like a tiger, but smaller.
Another was white with silver on her ears and tail-tip, almost looking like Frostywind, but not as silvery blue.
The last kit was a tom, he looked exactly like Darkfeather, jet black with scarlet-amber eyes.
Dawnfur had been too busy with hunting, and caring for the Clan - also spending her spare time at the place only she went to - and never had the chance to visit Frostywind and her kits for days.
"Have you named them yet? I bet you named them a long time ago. Sorry for not visiting," Dawnfur mewed, not meeting Frostywind's eyes.
"Yes, the golden, white and black is Tigerkit," mewed Frostywind, resting her tail on Tigerkit's head. "the white she-kit with silver ears and tail-tip is Hushkit,"
Frostywind this time rested her tail on Hushkit's head, but Hushkit quickly pounced out of the way. "And the one that looks like Darkfeather is named Hiddenkit," she finished, pointing her tail to Hiddenkit, but not touching him.
Dawnfur rested her gaze onto the jet black kit, with scarlet eyes, who was glaring at the ground, his tail lashing. He looked angry. She glanced up at Frostywind, who apparently knew what she was thinking. "He's a bit aggressive," Frostywind murmured, turning her gaze to Hiddenkit.
"What about Hushkit and Tigerkit?" asked Dawnfur. "Well, Hushkit plays a bit rough sometimes, but at least she's strong . . . I'm sure she'll be an amazing warrior, as well as Hiddenkit and Tigerkit," Frostywind replied.
"Tigerkit is usually kind, but she's a great fighter as well," Frostywind added, her gaze not rising. "And Hiddenkit doesn't like to play."
"Really?" asked Dawnfur, shocked. She thought every kit liked to play. But then again, maybe this Hiddenkit didn't. "Why not? Do you even know why?"
Frostywind shook her head. "No, I don't." she replied. "but maybe Darkfeather didn't like to play when he was a kit. Hiddenkit may have inherited both his fathers appearance and personality."
Dawnfur just nodded. "Well, I'm going to . . . uh, well, see you later," Dawnfur mewed, not wanting to tell Frostywind that she was going to the place she always went - usually no cats were there - when she had a lot on her mind, or nothing better to do.
"Bye, Dawnfur," Frostywind mewed, dropping her gaze to her three kits. "Bye," Dawnfur replied, and padded out of the nursery. She walked out of camp, and went towards the tree she always went to. She was only nearly three fox lengths away from the tree, when she smelled something odd.
It obviously wasn't a cat, a Twoleg would know that . . . it wasn't an animal at all. Dawnfur was lucky never to have experienced this . . . until now. Her fur bristled, half because of fear, and half because the scent was coming from the place she always visited. Now, what was she doing here just standing and being scared and angry? Pathetic, she scolded herself silently, turning and pelting back to camp.
"Fire!"
"Fire," she mewed again, but quietly now, almost panting. Warriors, apprentices, elders, some kits and queens were walking out of their dens, confused. "Fire," she mewed once more. She saw Ravenstar walking out of her den, and over towards her.
"Dawnfur, where is it?" asked Ravenstar. Dawnfur looked into her leaders eyes. She looked both scared and defiant. Dawnfur shook her head, but then turned it into a nod, knowing that the leader must know of the place she always went to . . .
"The tree on the outskirts of . . ." Dawnfur began, but stopped. She just had a theory . . . "Dawnfur?" Ravenstar mewed, and Dawnfur shook her head, and finished, "ShadowClan."
ShadowClan may have some how made the fire, they hate us, especially because we now have Darkfeather in ThunderClan, is Ravenstar thinking the same thing? wondered Dawnfur, puzzled.
Murmurs of both fear and shock rose from the cats who were trying to listen to the conversation. "Fire!" yowled Ravenstar so suddenly that most cats in the clearing jumped. "We must flee!"
Dawnfur scented the air once more. The fire was advancing towards them. She was about to run to the nursery when she heard a yowl of fear from inside it . . . it was coming from Frostywind. "Frostywind!" yowled Dawnfur, rushing to the nursery, but once she got closer, she realized how warm it was there . . . part of the nursery was on fire. "Frostywind! Get out!" Dawnfur yowled.
"No!" Frostywind yowled back. "I need to find Hiddenkit!"
Hiddenkit's gone? thought Dawnfur in shock. Without thinking, Dawnfur ran into the nursery, and saw Hushkit and Tigerkit, sitting together, staring at the flames, not knowing what they were.
"Tigerkit! Hushkit! Get out of the nursery!" mewed Dawnfur loudly, nudging the two kits out of the nursery, then dashing back in to hunt for Hiddenkit. She thought she saw a black shape running on the other side of the fire . . . but it vanished. "Hiddenkit!" yowled Dawnfur, Frostywind echoed her. The nursery wasn't big, why couldn't they find the kit?

Dawnfur heard a hissing sound from a few tail lengths away. She thought she saw a small black figure there, but it was hard to tell because of the smoke. Dawnfur approached it. It was definitely a kit, but it wasn't Hiddenkit . . . "Tearkit!" mewed Dawnfur in surprise. Tearkit was sitting there, coughing a bit, covered in smoke.
Dawnfur picked up Tearkit, and looked for the nursery exit. I thought Frostywind got Tigerkit and Tearkit out of here! thought Dawnfur, finally seeing the exit, and running to it. She walked out, and dropped Tearkit gently to the ground. "Tigerkit?" mewed Dawnfur. She sighed. Tigerkit was gone.
Dawnfur walked back into the nursery, and looked around for Tigerkit. The nursery was filled with smoke now, and there were flames near the center.
"Tigerkit!" Dawnfur yowled. She didn't even know if Hiddenkit and Frostywind were still in the nursery right now. Dawnfur walked around the nursery, alert for any signs of the kits. Dawnfur coughed. The smoke was making it hard to breathe.
"Tigerkit!" Dawnfur yowled once more, and coughed again. Dawnfur finally thought she saw something laying on the ground, and she padded over to it. It was Tigerkit, and Hiddenkit was beside her, both covered in ash.
Dawnfur picked up both of them, and headed towards the nursery exit. The flames were coming closer to her now. The nursery would soon burst into flames, and she didn't know where Frostywind was . . .
Dawnfur finally found the exit of the nursery, and dropped Tigerkit and Hiddenkit gently beside Tearkit. More than half the Clan had already left, but Ravenstar, Darkfeather, Duskshadow and Aquarain were still there.
"Where's Frostywind?" asked Dawnfur. "I don't know, she must still be in the nursery," Duskshadow mewed. "She can't be! I would've seen her!" growled Dawnfur.
"Well, we didn't see her come out," Aquarain replied simply. Dawnfur rushed back into the nursery. "Frostywind!" yowled Dawnfur. She heard a light cough, and followed the sound to a body of a cat laying on the nursery ground, covered in ash.
"Frostywind!" Dawnfur mewed. She began dragging her sister to the exit of the nursery. Dawnfur reached the exit soon, flames were behind them. Dawnfur dragged Frostywind out of the nursery, and then released her grip once they were out.
Dawnfur was covered in ash, it looked as if her pelt was grey, even though it wasn't. Dawnfur coughed again. "Where's the medicine cat?" she asked.
Aquarain stared at Dawnfur for a while, but the rest of the cats just shrugged. "Dead . . ." Aquarain mewed at last. Dawnfur, Ravenstar, Duskshadow and Darkfeather stared at Aquarain.
"She's dead?" Dawnfur was the first to speak. Aquarain nodded. "But her apprentice, Snowleaf, is still alive." Aquarain added.
Dawnfur bowed her head. "I'm sorry to hear that, but at least we still have a medicine cat. We'll need to have a vigil, right?" Dawnfur looked up at Ravenstar, who nodded. Dawnfur nodded back, and turned her gaze to Frostywind, who was unconscious. Dawnfur then rested her gaze on Frostywind's kits.
Tearkit was still covered in ash, Hiddenkit shook the ash off of him, and Tigerkit was sitting next to Tearkit, she also had ash on her. They all looked fine, despite the fact that they were all dirty and coughing . . .
"Where's Snowleaf? She needs to take care of the kits, something to make them stop coughing or something . . ." Dawnfur mewed uncertainly.
