Chapter 33
I was in Spirit Tribe agian. I can never get tired of the place. I breathed in all of the wonderful scents. Then, I saw a grizzly she-bear coming towards me. She must want to tell me which creature we're suppposed to meet. Is this grizzly bear related to Amber Mist? "Welcome." said the grizzly bear. "Uh, hi. Who are you?" asked I. "I'm Scratching Claws. I'm Amber Mist's great-great-great-grandmother. I'm the bear that Fang Of Striking Rattle Snake scalpped." said the grizzly bear. Fang Of Striking Rattle Snake, Ash Fall's great-grandmother! The one that scalpped this grizzly bear! Oh, poor Scratching Claws! "After Fang Of Striking Rattle Snake scalpped you, you bled to death?" asked I. "If you're scalpped, you'll eventually bleed to death. So, yeah." said Scratching Claws. "Ouch!!! You must have been in extreme pain!!!" exclaimed I. "The pain went away after I joined Spirit Tribe." said Scratching Claws. "Really?" asked I in astonishment. "Nova Lee, there is NO pain in Spirit Tribe." said Scratching Claws. "I see that they gave you your scalp back." said I as I noticed that the top of her head had skin and fur on it agian. "Spirit Tribe can do many things. When my great-great-great-grandson's time comes to join Spirit Tribe, I'm going to give him a new eye." said Scratching Claws. She must have been talking about Mud Talon, Amber Mist's little brother, he had lost an eye when Acorn Tree yanked it out. Poor yearling, it must be rough to live on Earth with only one eye. "When his time comes to join Spirit Tribe, he'll have two eyes agian." continued Scratching Claws. "I bet Mud Talon love that and be forever grateful for it." said I. "I know he will. He's my great-great-great-grandson." said Scratching Claws. "Did he know you?" asked I. "No. I died before he was born, but his tribe told him about me. He said that I must of been one great bear." said Scratching Claws. "Why don't you visit him?" asked I. "The only live bears we Spirit Tribe bears visit are chiefs and medicine bears." said Scratching Claws. "But, I'm not a chief or a medicine bear. Why do y'all visit me?" asked I. "Because we have a special faith in you. We trust you with our hearts. We want you to hear what I say." said Scratching Claws. "I'm listening." said I. "Tell your traveling mates, you and them are supposed to find Squeak. She lives in a field. Just go north." said Scratching Claws. "Squeak? Is she a rodent? Tell me! I have to know!" demanded I. "I can't tell you. You have to find out on your own." said Scratching Claws. "Where is this field?" asked I. "I cant tell you. You have to find out on your own as well." said Scratching Claws. "Is it far?" asked I. "I can't tell you." said Scratching Claws. "How big is the field?" asked I. "I can't tell you." said Scratching Claws. "Why?!?" asked I. Scratching Claws walked back towards the direction she came from. "Come back! There's so much I want to know!" hollered I. She kept walking. "Come back!" screamed I.

Chapter 34
I awoke. I'm back on Earth. It was an early morning. I woke up the others. "Oh what is it Nova Lee? Do you realize it's too early to wake up?" growled Ash Fall in a sleepy voice with her eyes half closed. "Yeah, why did you wake us all up? Did you have a nightmare?" asked Black Storm in a sleepy tone. "No it wasn't a nightmare. Spirit Tribe visited me agian!" said I. "Spirit Tribe? Which bear visited you this time?" asked Amber Mist in a sleepy, but curious voice. "Your great-great-great-grandmother visited me Amber Mist! Scratching Claws!" said I. Amber Mist became wide awake. Her eyes were wide with excitement. "Scratching Claws visited you?!?" asked Amber Mist in happiness. "Yep, she did. She's a nice grizzly bear." said I. "She was so amazing! It's so sad when she died. I was only a newborn cub when it happened. I never heard how she died though." said Amber Mist. "Fang Of Striking Rattlesnake scalpped her." said I. "That demonic bear killed my great-great-great-grandmother?!?" screamed Amber Mist. "That DEMONIC bear was my great-grandmother!" snarled Ash Fall as she glared at Amber Mist with narrowed eyes. "My tribe said that your great-grandmother was the most slimy, the most dirty, the most mangy, the most annoying, the most mean, and the most hateful bear that ever lived!" snarled Amber Mist as she glared at Ash Fall with narrowed eyes. "Your getting that confused with Scratchy Claws or whatever her name is!" snarled. "Her name is Scratching Claws, and that disgusting Fang Of Striking Rattlesnake killed her!" snarled Amber Mist. "Amber Mist! It's okay! Spirit Tribe healed Scratching Claws! The top of her head now has fur back on it! She's happy and safe now! She said that she'll heal your little brother! She said that he'll have two eyes agian! Ash Fall, I bet Fang Of Striking Rattlesnake is healed and happy too!" said I as I desperatley tried to calm them down. "My great-grandmother is happy and healed?" asked Ash Fall. "My great-great-great-grandmother has her scalp back? She's going to give Mud Talon an eye?" aked Amber Mist. "Yep. All that's true!" "You see? My great-grandmother is going to give my little brother an eye! She cares for others! Unlike that rattlesnake!" snarled Amber Mist as she glared back at Ash Fall. "She kept trying to steal land from other bears! She doesn't deserve to have her scalp back! She deserves to suffer!" snarled Ash Fall as she glared back at Amber Mist. Without another word, Amber Mist tackled Ash Fall to the ground. It seemed that their friendship was over. Amber Mist saw Ash Fall's tail and sank her teeth down on it. Ash Fall wailed in agony. To my shock and horror, Amber Mist literally ripped Ash Fall's tail off!!! Ash Fall screamed in pure agony. "SERVES YOU RIGHT!!! IT IS YOU WHO DESERVES TO SUFFER!!!" roared Amber Mist. I was too shocked and too horrified to move. Ash Fall tried to charge at Amber Mist, but her extreme pain slowed her speed. Amber Mist smirked and swatted Ash Fall to the ground. Amber Mist pinned Ash Fall to the ground. Ash Fall tried to get up, but Amber Mist's greater size forced her down. "I avenged you Scratching Claws!!!" Amber Mist screamed in triumph as she lifted her head to the sky. No longer parilized, I charged at Amber Mist and head-butted her off of Ash Fall. "Look Amber Mist, Ash Fall may not have the most angelic family and she's no sweetie herself, but she doesn't deserve to have her tail ripped off!" growled I. "She said that my great-great-great-grandmother deserved to suffer!!! What kind of a bear that wishes pain and suffering on another bear?!?" snarled Amber Mist. "Scratching Claws wasn't that great!" snarled Ash Fall in a weak voice. Her face twisted in pure agony. "Shut up!" snapped Amber Mist as she shot Ash Fall another glare. "You're Ash Fall's friend! What kind of a friend that tears off another friend's tail?!?" screamed I. "I WAS her friend! She's now my sworn enemy!" said Amber Mist in a low growl. "Amber Mist is no longer my friend! Amber Mist is now my biggest enemy!" snarled Ash Fall in a feeble voice. Acorn Tree, Black Storm, and I gasped. Ash Fall and Amber Mist were no longer friends! They now hate eachother! Well, I sort of expected that, but still, that is so hard to believe! "You two can't be enemies! We're on a really important journey! Scratching Claws told us that we all have to find a field! We don't want to make enemies out of ourselves!" exclaimed I. "Don't worry Nova Lee, I'll come. Just keep that stinking piled of dirt away from me!" said Amber Mist. "I'll come as long as that carrion-eating maggot stays away from me!" said Ash Fall. "Before we go anywhere, let's go and treat Ash Fall. She needs to chew poppy seeds and we need to put spider webs on her wound." said I. "'We?' Who's 'we?' I'm not helping that rotting bag of fur!" snarled Amber Mist. "Oh, yes you ARE!!! In fact, you'll do most of the work!!! It was you that tore off Ash Fall's tail!!!" snapped I. "But-" protested Amber Mist. "No 'buts!' Do as I say!" interuppted I. "Well, at least I get to go far away from Ash Filth for a while." said Amber Mist. "Good riddance!" snarled Ash Fall as she licked up the pouring blood off of her wound. "Acorn Tree? Can you guard Ash Fall while we go find poppy seeds and spider webs?" asked I. "Of course I will." said Acorn Tree. "I don't need guarding!" yelled Ash Fall. "Black Storm, you and Amber Mist come with me. We'll go find poppy seeds and spider webs." said I as I ignored Ash Fall's protest. "Right!" said Black Storm as he gave me a faithful nod. Amber Mist glared at Ash Fall and then at me, but she slowly nodded. Acorn Tree guarded Ash Fall and the rest of us went looking for spider webs and poppy seeds. When will Ash Fall and Amber Mist be friends agian?

Thanks y'all! Y'all are wonderful friends, and I really meant that. Thanks agian. Chapter 35 Amber Mist, Black Storm, and I went looking for spiderwebs and poppy seeds. Acorn Tree was looking after the now tailless Ash Fall. I knew Ash Fall and Amber Mist had their disagreements, but I never dreamed that Amber Mist will tear off Ash Fall's tail! I won't underestimate Amber Mist agian! "I think I see a spiderweb on that bush." said Black Storm. "Amber Mist, go over there and pluck it off. Be sure to get the spiders off of it." said I. Amber Mist glared at me, but she obeyed. She carefully lifted the thick and sticky spiderweb of the bush and flicked the spiders off. She placed it on her back. "How many spiderwebs do we need?" asked Black Storm. "At least five more. Black Storm, go see if you can find poppy seeds. If you find them, lead Amber Mist to them so she can start picking." said I. "I'll do that Nova Lee." said Black Storm. "Thanks Black Storm." purred I. Black Storm began sniffing for poppy seeds. I went over towards Amber Mist. She begans plucking up more spiderwebs off another bush. "Good job Amber Mist." said I in a pleased voice. "Now have five spider webs on my back. All I need is one more." said Amber Mist. Amber Mist examined the bush, but couldn't find anymore spiderwebs. "Can't find anymore." said Amber Mist. "Then, go look somewhere else. You'll find one." said I. Amber Mist began searching. I followed her. Amber Mist gagan to look for another bush. She saw one and ran towards it. I ran afte her. We got closer and closer. Then, Amber Mist skidded to a hault. I skidded to a hault as well. Amber Mist began searching the bush. She le out a gasp. "Did you find one?" asked I. "I did! and it's a big one!" exclaimed Amber Mist. I watched as Amber Mist pulled the spider web off. She was right, it was big! And thick too! "Well, that takes care of the spiderwebs, let's go find Black Storm." said I. Amber Mist and I picked up Black Storm's scent. We began following it. We walked and walked. His scent got stronger and stronger. Then, we saw Black Storm running towards us. "Did you find any poppies?" asked I. "I did! A whole field of them!" exclaimed Black Storm. "Lead the way." said I. Amber Mist and I followed Black Storm. "I see that you got the spiderwebs." said Black Storm. "Yep, we sure did." said I. After walking a few more wolf lengths, we saw a field of poppies. We ran towards them. We skidded to a hault as soon as we got there. "Start picking Amber Mist. Ash Fall's going to need at least a dozen of poppies." said I. Amber Mist glared at me, but she obeyed. She began picking. It didn't take long for her to get a dozen poppies in her mouth. "Good Amber Mist. Now, let's head back to Acorn Tree and Ash Fall." said I. None of us said another words as we headed back to Acorn Tree and Ash Fall.

Chapter 36
"Y'all did it! Y'all found spiderwebs and poppies!" squealed Acorn Tree in pure happiness. "How are you Ash Fall?" asked I as I examined her. "She lost a quite a bit of blood." said Acorn Tree. "Then, Amber Mist has no time to lose. Amber Mist, go tend to Ash Fall." ordered I. Amber Mist snarled at me through narrowed eyes, but she walked towards Ash Fall. "GET THAT FUR-BALL AWAY FROM ME!!!" bellowed Ash Fall. "Ash Fall, she's the one that wound you. So, that's why she must be the one to care for you." said I. "That grizzly bear ruined my life my dismembering me! Why does SHE have to treat me?" demanded Ash Fall. "Ash Fall, it's not what's on the outside. It's what's in the inside that matters. Bears should like you for who you are, not for your looks." said Acorn Tree. "She's going to be one unpopular bear then!" growled Amber Mist. "Who asked you anyway?" snarled Ash Fall. "Everyone, stop! Ash Fall's losing blood and Amber Mist has to treat her right now!" said I. Amber Mist shot Ash Fall another glare. Then, Amber Mist began to apply spiderwebs to Ash Fall's gruesome wound. Ash Fall snarled at her, but said nothing. After a matter of moments, Ash Fall's wound is totally covered in thick and sticky spider webs. "That's all the spiderwebs." Amber Mist told me. "Good. Now, start feeding her her poppy seeds." said I. Amber Mist stuck her claws into the first poppy. Soon, seeds began pouring out of the flower and onto the palm of her left forepaw. She held the seeds in front of Ash Fall's mouth. Ash Fall hesitated, but she slowly licked up the seeds and began chewing. Then, in only a heart-beat, Ash Fall purposely bit Amber Mist's fingers. "You piece of-" snarled Amber Mist. "Enough!" interuppted Acorn Tree. "You two know what to do! Do as you two are told!" ordered I. Ash Fall and Acorn Tree both shot me a glare, but the slowly began to obey me agian. Ash Fall chewed the poppy seeds agian as Amber Mist reached for another poppy. Time flew by quick. It was already afternoon as Amber Mist reached for the last poppy. Amber Mist's claws cutted through the flower. Seeds poured out through the tear and onto the palm of Amber Mist's right forepaw. Amber Mist gave the seeds to Ash Fall. Ash Fall feebley licked up the seeds. "Ash Fall's getting really sleepy." said Acorn Tree. "Good. She now can't feel pain and she'll drift off to sleep. "So tired. I'm so, so, uuuuuhhhh." mumbled Ash Fall in a groggy voice. Her eyes began to close. Soon, snoring eruppted out of her. "She's asleep." whispered Acorn Tree. "Good. While she sleeps, we'll forage. We'll check up on her every now and then." whispered I. Acorn Tree, Amber Mist, and Black Storm nodded. Soon, we left Ash Fall to her sleep. We began to forage. I silently prayed to Spirit Tribe that my best friend will be okay.

Chapter 37
It was afternoon. Ash Fall slowly woke up. "How do you feel?" asked Black Storm. "Better I guess." growled Ash Fall. "Well, now that Ash Fall's awake and better, let's graze and then we'll find the field." said I. Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, and Black Storm nodded and began to eat grass. I did the same. The grass tasted delicious. It seemed like eons ago since I last ate. We ate and ate. Having satisfied ourselves, we bagan to find the field. I lead the way. "I wonder who Squeak is." said Amber Mist. "She sounds like a rodent." said Acorn Tree. "That's exactly what I said to Scratching Claws!" excaimed I. "I wonder what kind of a rodent she is." said Amber Mist. "I hope she isn't a rat. Those things are nasty!" said Black Storm. "Now Black Storm, it isn't nice to insult other creatures." said I. "Sorry." said Black Storm. "That's okay." said I. "I wonder how far is the field." said Amber Mist. "We'll find that out soon enough." said I. "Squeak better not laugh at me! It's not MY fault I no longer have a tail!" growled Ash Fall. "I'm sure Squeak will not notice." said I. "If she so much as giggles at me, I'll eat her!" growled Ash Fall. "No you won't! We can't eat ANYBODY that Spirit Tribe want us to meet!" said I. "Well, she just better not laugh at me!" growled Ash Fall. We were now five-hundred wolf lengths away from the cave. We walked past trees with squirrely squirrels on them. We walked past a lizard sun bathing on a rock. We walked past a gopher hole. We walked past five chipmunks playing tag. We walked past a flock of doves singing. We walked past six snakes playing hide-and-seek. Still, no sign of the field. "Something tells me that we're not going to find this field by nightfall." growled Ash Fall. "Maybe we'll find it tomorrow." said Acorn Tree. "Maybe." said Black Storm. "The sun is still up. We still got time." said I. We walked past seven rabbits playing Duck Duck Goose. We walked past a colony of ants gathering food for the winter. We walked past two robins paling Tug Of War with an earthworm. We walked past three ducks wading in small pond. We walked past geese playing follow the leader. We walked past a family of sparrows having dinner. Seeing the family of sparrows made me realize how much I miss my family. "What's wrong Nova Lee?" asked Black Storm in a gentle voice. "It's just...I miss my family." said I in a sad voice. "I miss them too." said Acorn Tree. "I miss the tribe too." said Ash Fall. "I miss my family too." said Amber Mist. "Well, the sooner we get Snow Tribe to come with us, the sooner we get back to Rain Tribe and Blood Tribe." said Black Storm. We walked until the sun began to set. We saw a shady oak tree. "Let's sleep under the oak tree." said I. The others nodded and followed me to the tree. "Amazing, I just slept not too long ago and I'm still tired." said Ash Fall. We all curled up under the shady branches. Soon, we fell into the black wave of sleep.

Chapter 38
We woke up. We ate grass and caterpillars for breakfast. We began to search for the field. "I hope we find the field today." said Amber Mist. "Yeah, the sooner we meet this Squeak, the sooner we get to Alaska. The sooner we get to Alaska, the sooner we meet Snow Tribe. The sooner we meet Snow Tribe, the sooner we bring them back to RAIN TRIBE forest. The sooner we bring Snow Tribe to the forest, the sooner we get rid of you grizzly bears FOREVER!" said Ash Fall in a happy voice. "I can't wait to be rid of you either!" snapped Amber Mist. "I wish I could flip you the tail, but YOU RIPPED IT OFF!" snarled Ash Fall. "You brought it on yourself!" snarled Amber Mist. "None of this would have happened if you wretched grizzly bears stay off of black bear territory!" snarled Ash Fall. "Silence you two! I do not want to hear this all the way to the field!" growled I. Ash Fall and Amber Mist glared at each other, then they very quickly took their gazes off each other. I sighed in annoyance and worry. Black Storm gave me right cheek a gentle lick. "Don't worry. Those two will be friends agian. It'll just take time." said Black Storm. "I sure hope so." said I. None of us said anything else. I lead the way as usual. We walked past cranky turtles. We walked past a family of porcupines. We walked past high-strung lizards. We walked past a flock of blue birds. We walked past rocks and plains. We were now sixty wolf-lengths away from the plains. "Okay, I can see that we're probably not going to find the field today!" said Black Storm in a discouraged voice. Just as I was about to comfort him, I heard Acorn Tree squeal in delight. "What is it Acorn Tree?" asked Amber Mist. "I found...THE FIELD!" said Acorn Tree. The rest of us raced to Acorn Tree. She was right. The field was their. "You did it Acorn Tree! You found the field!" exclaimed Black Storm in happiness. "She did. She did." said I in a proud voice. "Good work Acorn Tree!" said Amber Mist. Even Ash Fall looked impressed. "Okay, there's the field. Now, let's go there." said I. They followed me into the field. Soon, we were now in the field. "Now, let's start searching for Squeak. Scratching Claws said that Squeak lives in this field." said I. "Or so she says!" growled Ash Fall. "My great-great-great-grandmother does NOT lie!" snarled Amber Mist as she shot Ash Fall a glare. "Let's not start that! We have a mission here!" said I. We began searching for Squeak. "Hey y'all! I found a field mouse! She might be Squeak!" said Acorn Tree. We turned to Acorn Tree's side. Sure enough, there was a field mouse. The mouse is a she-mouse and she's frightened beyond belief. "Are you Squeak?" asked Amber Mist in a nice and soft voice. "Y-y-y-y-y-y-y-yes. I'm Squeak." stammered the little field mouse.

Chapter 39
We stared at the little field mouse. "I'm Nova Lee. This is Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, abd Black Storm." said I. "N-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-nice t-t-to m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-meet y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y'all." stammered Squeak. "What's the matter? Ever seen a bear before?" said Ash Fall. "Please don't eat me." pleaded Squeak as she trimbbled in fear with her tiny little black eyes wide with terror. "We're not going to eat you." said Amber Mist. "Y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y'all w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-won't?" asked Squeak. "We won't." said Black Storm. "Thanks." squeaked Squeak in a timid voice. "Now, are you going to talk in normal syllabals from now on?" asked Ash Fall. "Oh dear! What happened to your tail? I thought all bears had tails!" shrilled Squeak as she spotted Ash Fall's tailless rump. Ash Fall narrowed her eyes into tight slits. Black Storm winced. Acorn Tree breathed very fast. I felt as I got trampled by a herd of deer. I prayed to Spirit Tribe that Ash Fall wouldn't squish Squeak with one blow of her paw. Ash Fall revealed her teeth and pointed her steaming nose about a caterpillar length away from Squeak's belly. Squeak was full of fright agian. Just before Ash Fall was about to sink her teeth into Squeak's tiny and delecate body, Black Storm pulled her away from Squeak. "Ash Fall! She didn't do anything to provoke you!" snarled Black Storm. "Ash Fall gets testy when somebody notices her tailless rear." explained I. "Testy?!?!?!" exclaimed Ash Fall. "Yes, testy." said I as I shot Ash Fall a warning glance. "How come she doesn't have a tail?" asked Squeak. "It's a long story." said I. I really didn't want to tell Squeak that Amber Mist ripped off Ash Fall's tail because she talked bad about her desceased great-great-great-grandmother and I really really didn't want to tell her about the black bear and grizzly bear feud esqecially since she is afraid of bears. "A very long story." said Black Storm. "Oh, I see. I won't ask anymore questions so Ash Fall won't kill me." said Squeak. Embarrasment rushed through us. We know that Ash Fall is sensitive about her injury, but she really didn't have to make us bears look like cold-hearted killers in front of other creatures! "Don't worry, Ash Fall won't kill you." said I as I glared at Ash Fall. "We want to ask you a very important question." said Acorn Tree. "W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-what?" stammered Squeak. "Which would be the right path to Nome, Alaska?" asked I. "Uh, I don't know ALL the paths to that place, but I can get you on the right starter path to that place." squeaked Squeak. We all listened closely. "You go north. You should see a fallen tree. That's all I know! Honest!" squeaked Squeak. "Go north, find the fallen tree. That'll do. Thanks Squeak." said I. "N-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-no p-p-p-p-p-problem." stammered Squeak. We all said our good-byes to Squeak. Ash Fall however glared at her. Squeak let out a squeak of terror and crawled back into her hole. "Poor mouse, she's petrified of bears." said Black Storm. "Maybe she wouldn't be so afraid of us if Ash You-Know-Who didn't threaten her!" snarled Amber Mist as she glared at Ash Fall. "Maybe that little runt wouldn't have noticed my wound if you haven't torn off my tail!" snarled Ash Fall as she glared at Amber Mist. "KNOCK IT OFF!!! WE HAVE A FALLEN TREE TO FIND!!!" bellowed I. The two walked further away from each other. I sighed. Will their feud ever be over? None of us said another word as I lead the others north. With all the right paths were walking on, we should find the fallen tree in no time.
