Here's a rather long poem I wrote a while ago...
StarClan, Are You Watching?
The sun bursts forth
On a new leaf-bare day
The marshes are still
Scarce is the prey
Within a thick clump of bracken
Lithe bodies rise and fall
In quiet, restless slumber
Pressed close to the thorny wall
A white tom emerges
From his solitary den
He lifts his pale head
To the skies once again
The grass is brittle under his black paws
A breeze blows in his face
His soul is weary, his head is full
Blackstar wishes the Twolegs would give up the chase
StarClan, are you watching?
A she-cat prowls up against him
She is a beauty, his secret love
Her black fur ripples in the soft morning breeze
Nightwing lifts her head to the skies above
What will happen today? Blackstar wonders
Will the Twolegs come to play?
A shudder passes through his spine
Will Nightwing die today?
Littlecloud pads up to stand beside them
His eyes are heavy with fear
“They are coming,” he moews softly
“The Twolegs are coming here.”
Nightwing yowls and hears monsters
Destruction tears through the marsh
She races for the nursery
Escaping the Twolegs cries that are so harsh
StarClan, are you watching?
Blackstar sprints to the warriors’ den
“Quick!” he yowls “make haste to run!”
The warriors stir and he leaps for the elders
Black smoke is enveloping the sun
Through the din, a she-cat runs
Out of the camp to escape the turmoil
Tawnypelt’s ginger tortoiseshell fur streams out behind her
As she runs across the border onto ThunderClan soil
“Help!” she yowls. “The Twolegs!”
Tawnypelt races through the place she once knew
Streaking through the woods
She could have sworn that around her, StarClan warriors flew
ThunderClan and WindClan came to their aid
The united Clans charged together
Firestar and Brambleclaw raced ahead of ThunderClan
Leading WindClan was Tallstar and Crowfeather
StarClan, are you watching?
“Wait!” RiverClan is racing towards them
Ready to join them in the marshland
They streak through the forest, and in ShadowClan territory
Tawnypelt is in command
The monsters are creeping to the ShadowClan camp
Screams of cats vibrate through the air
Tawnypelt dives for the camp entrance
She senses StarClan and knows they are there
The camp is in dissary; cats run in and out
The strong are guiding the weak
Blackstar and Nightwing race side by side
They nod to the Clans, but do not stop to speak
The apprentices are dragging the kits
Away from the terror and crushed ground
The monsters are closing in
Twigs spin all around
StarClan, are you watching?
Every cat has escaped
Firestar’s yowl echoes “Run! They’re here!”
Blackstar gathers his Clan
The air is heavy with the scent of fear
“Nightwing!” Where is she?
Blackstar searches for his mate
He weaves through the terrified cats
He is growing desparate
Across the Thunderpath with his Clan
To ThunderClan’s forest world
Nightwing has vanished, she is gone
Blackstar’s mind twisted and swirled
Into the ThunderClan camp
Cinderpelt is already treating an injured one
Blackstar is still waiting by the camp border
Praying Nightwing will come
StarClan, are you watching?
Alone and fearful, Blackstar
Takes up his silent wait
He knows Nightwing might be dead
But still he watches for his mate
A sudden burst of black rushes
Towards Blackstar’s snowy pelt of white
Nightwing is here! She has survived
Her presense dissolves Blackstar’s fright
His Clan is safe, Nightwing is found
They have esacped the Twolegs once again
As if to heal the scarred earth
StarClan sends a peaceful rain
ShadowClan shelters at Sunningrocks
Their future in the forest looks dark
They have nothing left, so let a new day begin
Let the journey now embark
