Chapter 5
"Humans killed your family?" Gasped I. "The were many of them! My father's name was Kills Cougar With Claws, he was fishing with me. Him and I were catching fish for our tribe. Our tribe was named Tree Tribe. My father was also my tribe and I's chief. My father and I were having a great time. Then, we heard our tribe screaming. My father and I ran back to our tribe mates. We saw my mother, my little sister, my little brother, and my aunts dead, but the humans were no where to be seen. So, my uncles, grandparents, and my father decided to run away from our land to find a new land that's safe from humans. But, I decided to go get revenge for what the humans did. So, I looked for those cougar-hearted humans. I smelt one. So, I followed the scent trail. I saw one. It was a female. She was pointing a metal tube at me, I believe the humans called them guns. All I know is that humans use them to kill us. I suddenly froze. I was too scared to move. Then, my father leapt at the human and knocked her down. He sank his teeth into her arm. Then, my father looked at me and roared, 'Run son! Run!' So, I ran. After running about thirty badger-lengths, I descided to go help my father drive out that human. When I got back there, the human took out a pointed thing that humans call knives. She used it to slash at my father's throat. No longer afraid for my safety and full of rage, I charged at the human and tackled her to the ground. I bit into her leg and shook her. Her blood oozed into my mouth. I bit down harder and harder and I shooked my head harder and harder. Then, I let go and I smacked her chest, knocking the wind out of her. Then, I bellowed, 'Go away and never come back!' The human looked at me with a terror filled look on her face and crawled away from me. I went to look for my uncles and grandparents. When I found them, they were dead. Grief stricken, I ran back to my father. He was dead too. I didn't know what to do except to leave that forest. And so, here I am." The young frightened black he-bear said. "Your tribe is dead?" Asked Ash Fall asked with a very sympathetic look on her face. He nodded. "That's so sad." Said Acorn Tree equally sympathetic. "My father sacraficed his life to save my life. He was so brave. There was no bear like him. I can't believe that I'll never see him agian!" The young black he-bear sorrowfully said with tears streaming down his cheeks. "The black she-bear with the torn ear standing next to me is Ash Fall. Like you, her tribe was killed by humans. So, my tribe and I took her in. She now lives with me in my tribe. Her and I are best friends. My father was also a chief. His name is Red Wood. He told her that she'll see her family agian when she eventually goes to Spirit Tibe. Your father and family is watching over you, and you'll be reunited with them agian when your time comes to join Spirit Tribe." Said I. "You think?" Asked the he-bear blinking away tears. "I know." Said I. "That makes me feel better. Thanks." Said the he-bear. "Didn't your family had dens to hide in?" Asked Acorn Tree. "No, we didn't." Said the he-bear. "Our tribe has dens. It keeps us safe from humans." Said Ash Fall. "My tribe didn't think that we needed dens." Said the he-bear. "What do we have here?" Asked Amber Mist as she walked towards us. This is Amber Mist. She's traveling with us." Said I. I told hi about our quest. "Since you got no where else to go, would you like to travel with us?" Asked I. "You won't mind?" Asked the he-bear. "We be happy that you came with us!" Said I. Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, and Amber Mist nodded. "Wow! Thanks y'all!" Exclaimed the he-bear happily. "I'm Nova Lee." Said I. "I'm Amber Mist." Said Amber Mist. "I'm Acorn Tree." Said Acorn Tree. "I'm Black Storm." Said the he-bear. "We're all happy to meet you." Said I. "And I'm happy to meet y'all." Said Black Storm. "Would you like some berries and fish?" Asked I. "Yes! Thanks!" Said Black Storm. I grabbed a fish and sat down near a rock. Black Storm picked up a fish and sat down next to me. "Mind If I sit next to you?" Asked Black Storm. "Not at all. You can sit next to me." Said I. His body touched mine. I felt something inside of me as his fur touched mine. But, I wasn't sure what it is.

Thanks for correcting my errors Moony! You're a great friend! Firelover, you and Tigerfur are great friends too! Chapter 6 Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, Black Storm and I finished our lunch. We continued our quest to Alaska. While we walked, I saw Black Storm crying. "What's wrong?" I asked gently. "I know that my tribe is watching over me, and I know that I'll be reunited with them agian someday, but I still miss them so much!" Sobbed Black Storm. I licked away Black Storm's tears. "You don't have to grieve Black Storm. Once you love someone, they stay in your heart forever." Said I as I touched his heart with my nose. "Really?" Asked Black Storm. "Really." Said I as I continued to lick away his tears. "Thanks Nova Lee." Said Black Storm as he smiled at me. "Can you two stop for a second? The rest of us are trying to catch up!" Exclaimed Amber Mist. "We better let them catch up." I whispered to Black Storm. Black Storm and I paused. After a few moments, they caught up with us. Black Storm and I got up and lead the way. Black Storm gave my ear a gentle lick. "What's that for?" Asked I. "For the way you made me feel better." Said Black Storm as he smiled at me. I smiled back. He was not like other he-bears that are always rowdy and vain. He was kind and honest with his emotions. We made my heart warm. I rested my cheek agianst his as we lead the way to our path to Alaska. "Get a little closer you two!" Laughed Ash Fall. "Nova Lee and Black Storm! How cute!" Said Amber Mist. "I think my little sister has a thing for Black Storm!" Said Acorn Tree. Black Storm and I ignored them. I was just happy to be near Black Storm and I didn't want to leave his side.

Chapter 7
The night sky shone on our backs. Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, Black Storm, and I have walked for a long time. We decided to sleep under an oak tree. Black Storm wanted to sleep next to me, so I let him sleep next to me. My heart was warm in happiness as he slept near me with his fur touching mine. I gave him a soft lick. Then, I drifted off to sleep. I was in an extremely lovely forest. The forest was the most peaceful forest I've ever been in. No cougars, no humans, there was a huge river with a waterfall with thousands of delicous looking salmons jumping in it, there were thousands of bushes with the biggest and most scrumptious looking berries on them, the ground was covered with luscious looking grass, and the air was full of bear scent. Where am I? Then, I saw a black he-bear coming towards me. He had a happy and welcoming look on his face. "Nova Lee! Welcome to Spirit Tribe!" Said the bear. A bunch of questioning thoughts raced to my head. How does he know my name? Why am I in Spirit Tribe? Were are Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, and Black Storm? What does this bear want from me? Was he secretly following me? "How do you know who I am?" Asked I. "I'm your great-grandfather. I'm Wolf That Runs The Prarie. I've been living in Spirit Tribe for seventy-two moons. I've known you ever since you were a new born suckling from your mother. I'm your father's father. I used to be your tribe's chief." Said Wolf That Runs The Prarie. "Your my great-grandfather?" Gasped I. My grandfather nodded. Wow! I was talking to my great-grandfather! The father of my father! Like my father, he was my tribe's chief! He chose my father to be my tribe's newest chief! When my father turned into an adult, he must have stepped down to allow my father to become chief! He new me ever since I was a cub! How did Wolf That Runs The Prarie die? "How did you die?" Asked I. "I was really old, I was taking a stroll in the forest you live in, a cougar saw me and pounced on me. I tried to fight back, but I was too frail to fight back. The cougar sunk her fangs into my neck, and, I died instantly. Your father saw the cougar and killed her. Him and the rest of your tribe buried me near a tall boulder. Wolf That Runs The Prarie got killed by a cougar? My father killed a cougar? Suddenly, my heart was full of pity. "Oh, I'm so sorry." Whispered I. "You are growing up to be a wise and beautiful bear. I'm very proud of you. I've come to deliever you a message." Said my great-grandfather. I listened closely. "I know all about your quest. The message is that you, Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, and Black Storm are going the right way. You'll be visited by animals. Spirit Tribe will tell you the names of the animals when the time comes. I'm here to tell you the name of the first animal." Said my great-grandfather. I listened very closely. "You'll be visited by Night Wing. She'll tell you the way to Nome, Alaska. You'll see her tomorrow. Just keep walking and you'll eventually see her. That's all I got to say. Bye, my great-granddaughter." Said my great-grandfather. I awoke. Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, and Black Storm were sleeping peacefully. I was back on Earth. The moon and stars shone on my body. So, my traveling mates and I are to meet Night Wing when we start on our quest agian. I was excited and somewhat afraid. Who's Night Wing?

Amber Mist and Nova Lee are my favorite characters! Which bears are your favorite characters?
Chapter 8
Acorn Tree, Ash Fall, Amber Mist, Black Storm, and I woke up and had grass for breakfast. We walked until it was noon. We decided to take a break. We sat near a boulder. I realized that it was a great chance to tell them about my dream. "Everyone, my great-grand father visited me last night in my dream. I was in Spirit Tribe. He told me that we'll meet Night Wing today. All we have to do is keep walking towards our way to Alaska. I know what I'm saying sounds crazy, but what I speaking is true. Y'all got to believe me. Today is the day we meet Night Wing!" Said I. "Who is Night Wing" Asked Black Storm. "What is Night Wing?" Asked Amer Mist. "I don't know. All I know is that her name is Night Wing and that we'll meet her today during our trek." Said I. "Nova Lee, Spirit Tribe only visits the dreams of chiefs and medicine bears. Are you sure that you are not wrong?" Asked Ash Fall. "No, I'm not wrong. My great-grandfather did visit me from Spirit Tribe. What I'm speaking is the truth." Said I. "Are you sure that you didn't ate too much berries last night?" Ash Fall calmly asked. "My great-grandfather did visit me! I know it!" Shouted I. "Nova Lee, calm down. What you're saying is a little hard to believe. Now, we are all a little nervous about our trip. When we get nervous, sometimes we dream odd dreams. Just drink some water and you'll feel better." Said Acorn Tree. "My dream is real! I'm not lying!" Protested I. "I'm sure that Nova Lee is not lying, but it's just so hard to believe that a bear in Spirit Tribe visited her." Said Amber Mist to Acorn Tree and Ash Fall. "Well, let's just continue our quest. I'll believe that Night Wing will visit us today!" Said I. Acorn Tree looked at me with conserned eyes. "Well, let's just go on with the quest. Maybe we will find Night Wing. Maybe." Said Amber Mist. We all got up, and I lead the way. Black Storm walked up by my side. "I believe you Nova Lee. You don't look like the lying type. If you say that we'll see Night Wing today, then we'll meet her today." Said Black Storm as he looked at me with a kind face and a kind smile. "Thanks Black Storm. I know that I'm not a chief or a medicine bear, but my great-grandfather did visit me from Spirit Tribe." Said I. "Who was your great grandfather?" Asked Black Storm. "His name is Wolf That Runs The Prarie. He was the father of my father. He was my tribe's chief. When he got very old, he was walking in the forest, a she-cougar saw him and killed him. My father saw the cougar and killed her. Then, my father became chief." Said I. "A cougar killed your great-grandfather? Oh, Nova Lee." Said Black Storm with a sympathatic look on his face as he licked my cheek. "He said that he's always watching over me and is very proud of me." Said I. "He has a right to be proud of you." Said Black Storm. "He knew me ever since I was a newborn cub. I wish that I got to know him as much as he knew me." Said I. "He sounds like your great-grandfather was a great chief. I bet he's a great bear." Said Black Storm. "I miss my great-grandfather. I bet he was a great." Said I in a sad voice. "Remember Nova Lee, one you love someone, they stay in your heart forever." Said Black Storm. I gave Black Storm a soft lick on his smooth and shiny cheek. "I remember now. Thanks Black Storm." Said I. Black Storm and I looked at each other with gentle eyes and sweet smiles. Black Storm and I continued to lead the way to Nome, Alaska. The sun was now setting. We continued to lead the way. "We still haven't seen Night Wing!" Said Ash Fall. "Nova Lee, it's getting late, it's time that we had dinner and then we'll get some sleep." Said Acorn Tree. "We'll see Night Wing soon." Said Black Storm. "But we've been walking all day! I'm sure that Night Wing doesn't exist!" Said Ash Fall. Before I could protest, a raven flew to the ground. It looked at us. "A raven! Ooh, those pests get on my nerves! All they do is steal your food! Let me chase it away!" Said Ash Fall. "Got for it Ash Fall!" Said Acorn Tree. "Please, don't move. I come in peace." Said the raven. "You come in peace?" Asked Amber Mist. "I do young grizzly. I am Night Wing. Said the raven.

The bears in my story are based on Native Americans. Nova Lee is inspired by my love of bears and fasination with Native Americans.
I don't know how you guys get karma, but just be yourselves and let's see what happens.
Chapter 9
I thought I felt the ground shake beneath my paws. Night Wing's a raven? A bird that has always been a pest to us bears? "You're Night Wing?" Asked Amber Mist. "Wow! Nova Lee wasn't crazy! Night Wing is real!" Gasped Ash Fall. "You were right all the long Nova Lee." Said Acorn Tree. "Why did Spirit Tribe want us to find a raven?" Asked Black Storm. "Excuse me, Night Wing, are you familar with Spirit Tribe? It's were all us tribe bears go when we die." I told the raven with politeness. "Yes young one. I believe in Spirit Tribe. Some of my ansestors are in Spirit Tribe." Said Night Wing. "There are pests in Spirit Tribe?" Ash Fall asked in a rude voice. I gave my best friend a warning glare. "You are Nova Lee." Night Wing said as she looked at me. "You are Black Storm." Said Night Wing as she looked at Black Storm. "You are Amber Mist." Said Night Wing as she looked at Amber Mist. "You are Acorn Tree." Said Night Wing as she looked at Acorn Tree. "And, you are Ash Fall. Politeness is a life long lesson young one." Said Night Wing as she looked at Ash Fall. "How do you know our names?" Asked I. "Wolf That Runs The Prarie visited me in my dream and told me all about you all. Kind and generous bear your great-grandfather is." Said Night Wing as she looked at me. "Why are you here?" Asked Ash Fall with a slight glare at Night Wing. "To help you find your path to Nome, Alaska." Said Night Wing. "But, we know where it is! We go north and then west!" Said Ash Fall. "I know, but Spirit Tribe told me to make sure that you are going the right way." Said Night Wing. "We could use some friendly help." Said Black Storm with a thoughtful look on his face. "We don't need any help from a raven! The sooner we get to Alaska, the sooner we meet those polar bears, and the sooner we get rid of Blood Tribe once and for all!" Roared Ash Fall. "I know those polar bears. The are called Snow Tribe. They will help you all, but I think they'll help you all in a diffrent way." Said Night Wing. "What do you mean?" Asked Ash Fall with narrowed eyes. "Violence is for the weak young one. Some tribes want to live in peace. The wise believe in peace." Said Night Wing. "You mean, they won't make Blood Tribe leave us alone?" Asked Acorn Tree in a worried voice. "No worry frantic one. Your quest will not be in vain. Snow Tribe will help you. Believe me, I met Snow Tribe before. Them and I are splended friends." Said Night Wing. "The polar bears are friends with a raven?" Asked Ash Fall with disbelief in her voice. "Friends come in all shapes and sizes shocked one. Now, you need my guidence and I'll give it to you all now." Said Night Wing. We all listened closely. "Head for the mountains. Once your snouts touch the mountains, turn west. Then, you'll see two maple trees. Then, sleep near the maple trees." Said Night Wing. "Head for the mountains?! That'll takes moons!" Bellowed Ash Fall. "That's all I got to say. Spirit Tribe will always be with you. Trust me." Said Night Wing. "Trust you?! Why would we trust you? You're a raven!" Snarled Ash Fall. "Trust is another life long lesson impulsive one." Said Night Wing. "Thanks for everything Night Wing." Said I. "Bye dear bears. I'll see you all agian soon I forsee." Said Night Wing. We watched as Night Wing flew away. "Bye!" Chorused us. "Nice raven!" Said Amber Mist. "Well, the mountains are in front of us. I say we head on over." Said I. "Are you squirrel-fur? We're going to listen to a raven?" Asked Ash Fall with a shocked look on her face. "My great-grandfather told us to find her, and we did. Now, she helped us. So, we'll go to the mountains. Said I. Ash Fall rolled her eyes. Without saying another word, I headed towards the mountains. Black Storm walked beside me. The other followed us. We were finally heading towards the mountains. "Night Wing is an old raven, but she is wise and helpful. I'm glad that we found her." Said Black Storm as he looked at me with kind eyes. "I know. I hope that we see her agian soon. She is not like those other annoying ravens." Said I. "Nova Lee?" Asked Black Storm. "Yes?" Asked I. "I'm glad that I met your travel mates. Most of all, I'm glad that I met you." Said Black Storm as he smiled at me. "We're all glad to meet you too. Especially me." Said I sa I smiled back with my eyes shining bright. Black Storm and I touched noses. We held that pose for five precious seconds. Then, we turned our noses back towards the mountains. It was many deer lengths away, but it won't seem long at all when I got my travel mates by my side. Black Storm in particular, made me safe and calm. I know it's so soon, but was I falling in love with Black Storm?

One moon means one month in bear terms. Just to let you know.
Chapter 10
Six moons has passed. The mountains were getting really close. We were all really happy that the mountains were now just a few pawsteps away. "Finally! I was beginning to think that we'll never get to those stupid mountains!" Exclaimed Ash Fall. "Those mountains are so beautiful!" Grunted Amber Mist in delight. "Look! Those trees are near the mountains just as Night Wing said!" Said Acorn Tree. "Let's run! The sooner we get there the better!" Said I. Without waiting another word, I ran towards the mountains. "Nova Lee, wait! We have to watch out for cougars!" Hollered Black Storm. "Don't worry! I don't see any cougars!" I hollered back. I ran and ran. I was now many coyotie lengths from the others. The mountains were getting closer and closer. While I ran, a HUGE cougar leapt in front of me. I skidded to a hault. The cougar walked slowly towards me with a vicious look on its face. "Young bear, good meal." Said the cougar. Judging by its voice and smell, it was a he-cougar. "Young bear make good dinner for Rip." Laughed the cougar in an evil voice. So, the cougar's name was Rip, and he wants to eat me. I stood on my hind legs. "TAKE ANOTHER STEP CLOSER AND I'LL SKIN YOU ALIVE!!!" I roared my most ferocious roar. Rip wasn't running away. "Rip eat bear! Rip eat bear! Bear dinner! Bear dinner! Food for Rip! Food for Rip!" Shouted Rip. Rip leapt at me. He knocked me over. He tried to sink his teeth into my neck. I tried to push him away, but he was too strong. Then, I used my back claws to score his belly. Rip leapt back in surprise and pain. I tackled him to the ground. I sank my teeth into Rip's right ear. Rip screamed in agony. Then, Rip jerked his head away while I bit down even harder. Now, Rip has no right ear at all. I swallowed that mangy ear in one gulp. The ear and the blood slithered down my throat. Rip was now really furious. He crawled away from my grip and head-butted me to the ground. He bit into my left back paw. I bellowed in pain. Then, Rip leapt back onto me. He lowered his mouth to my throat. I tried to pushed him away, but he was to strong. I tried to fight back, but he ignored my back claws this time. Things turned grim. Was I really about to be killed by a bear's deadliest enemy next to humans?
