No they just dress up the guy flute player as a girl. I'm not sure if it is a tradition but it seems like it. Last year he was Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Concert yesterday. I was so confused because I'm in band and chorus (had to run to one room say I'm here then run back) the band did pretty good. There were a couple of problems in our first song. Chorus also did good. I was next to a bass and a soprano who was singing out of tune and the wrong notes. Also she didn't even know the words to all the songs.
then the rest of the band joined the Chorus. The only problem was I was the only one who came in on time, (I am not being sarcastic I seriously was the only one. I was unsure about it {I only heard my voice} so I asked my friend if I was the only one and she said yes. Then I was talking to another friend and he said that he only heard one voice come in on time. At first I thought I was wrong then my Chorus teacher started to mouth the words and it turned out I was right. So we all came in. The sad part is the band students had the music unlike the Chorus students and Chorus/band students (like me)

You should have just asked if you could switch.
I switched instruments twice. In 7th grade I learned oboe in 9th I learned tuba.
I know people who play drums for marching band and then play other instruments for concert band... like 4 people.

My BD is being evil. Our midterm is the first 23 measures of Ride (Or as my section leader said the first time he saw it "Oh Dear God Ride") It is really fast, goes up WAY higher than a tuba should go (right below middle C for those who know about how low tubas are usually written) I haven't listened to the clip here ( www.samuelrhazo.com/ride.html ) but it is apparently 26 seconds of Ride

The concerts tomorrow! About a week before it we got a new piece for it too. (I'm not joking we did)
My section leader had changed the seating of the tubas in band class because I'm way too quiet. I think he can sometimes hear me now.
At the dress rehearsal my BD put us in our seats according to our midterm grade (that's what my section leader said anyway) and I was first, Apparently my section leader messed up badly on the D scale and the beginning of the piece of music (he didn't pratice)
Also at the dress rehearsal the trumpets got their hands on some tape. They wrote "Kick Me" using the tape on the back of the section leader. Who took off his jacket and saw it and said I approve. They also played tic tak toe using the tape on a trumpet's leg.
At a part in the music where the sax has a solo it was suggested that he stood up. The trumpets said he should stand on his chair too. My BD said yes stand on the chair and have fire coming out of your ears while your at it. or something to that affect anyway
On another note me and my brother rescued a dog. Ironically it turned out to be the dog of the school's librarian who emailed my teachers. One of my teachers (my chorus one) had to have the president of the chorus read it to the class because it made her... I can't remember the words she used but it had something to do with making her sad or babbling I think.
She said to the chorus that that was integrity she also pointed me out during class after the president was done reading it. Embassrased me.
